This is a lesson on similes and metaphors using song lyrics (Standard 3-1.4). The flipchart file was too large to upload, but here is a quick description: Each page had a section of lyrics from various "kid-friendly" songs (one song per page). Hidden behind each phrase that is a simile or metaphor in the lyrics is a text box labeled either simile (one color) or metaphor (different color). Then, there was an iPod revealer tool (screen of iPod marked out with magic ink pen) that students dragged over the phrases to see if their guess was correct. Also, the song files were embedded into the pages (at the end of the lesson, students voted on top 3 songs and those were played - students listened for other examples of figurative language in song and danced to the music).
